Abdominal Binder or Faja After Surgery? What to Confirm Before You OrderUpdated 10 days ago

By Fajas Tributo

After surgery, you may hear terms like “compression garment,” “abdominal binder,” or “faja.” When you start shopping, those names can make the choice feel more complicated than expected.

At Tributo, we help you understand the differences and explore faja designs around your measurements, procedure areas, and garment instructions, so you can choose with greater confidence.

What makes a faja different?

An abdominal binder generally wraps around the abdomen. A faja is a shaped garment that, depending on the style, can include the waist, back, bust, arms, or thighs.

That range of designs gives you options when your garment requirements extend beyond the abdomen. The important detail is choosing the coverage your recovery calls for; more coverage does not automatically mean a better choice.

If your instructions specifically request a binder, confirm with your surgeon before substituting a faja.

A more personal approach with Tributo

Your proportions matter when choosing a garment. Torso length influences where the upper edge sits, while leg length determines where the lower coverage ends. Back height, bra design, and bathroom access also affect how the faja fits into your day.

Start with these details

Before ordering, share:

  • Your procedure areas: So we can discuss relevant coverage.

  • Any garment instructions: Including the requested compression stage or design.

  • Drains or prescribed accessories: So we can review access and space considerations.

  • Your daily needs: Such as sitting for work, wearing a separate bra, or practical bathroom access.

You do not need to know every feature in advance. If your medical instructions are unclear, we can explain our styles and help you identify what to confirm with your healthcare provider.

Support beyond your faja

At Tributo, our options also include the Nova Sculpt Lipo Foam 360, an enveloping foam accessory with elastic bands and a Velcro closure. Its wraparound construction allows adjustable compression around the abdomen, with short- and long-torso options to accommodate different proportions.

If your recovery plan includes foam or wraparound support, our Compression Experts can explain its design and discuss how it fits into your garment selection. Your healthcare provider should confirm when and how to use it.

Find your Tributo fit

Choosing your post-surgery faja should feel like a guided decision. Your surgeon determines the medical requirements and wear schedule; we help you navigate measurements, styles, and customization.
