Compression by Zone: Why Every Area May Need Something DifferentUpdated 2 months ago

After surgery, it's easy to think that compression is the same everywhere. But your body doesn't heal that way.
Your lower abdomen may need more support than your waist. Your back may need extra coverage, while your legs may benefit from a different length or level of compression.
That's what compression by zone is all about: understanding that different parts of your body may have different needs during recovery.
At Fajas Tributo, we've designed our garments with that in mind. From bra and bra-free styles to targeted compression, different leg lengths, and recovery accessories, every feature has a purpose.
Let's take a closer look.
Lower Abdomen (FUPA)
![]() | The lower abdomen often requires additional attention after procedures such as abdominal liposuction, a tummy tuck, or a C-section. For patients who need more targeted support in this area, we offer Extra FUPA Compression, an additional inner layer built directly into the garment to reinforce the lower abdomen without creating unnecessary volume. |
This option is only available on all of our Stage 2 fajas, except for the Serena Collection. Serena is made with a specially bonded fabric that already provides smooth, consistent support, so an additional FUPA layer is not necessary.
When recommended by your surgeon, accessories such as lipo foams or abdominal boards may also be worn beneath the garment to help distribute pressure more evenly.
Waist
The waist is one of the main structural areas of a compression garment. After abdominal liposuction, a tummy tuck, or body-contouring procedures, stable support around the midsection can help the garment stay securely in place and provide consistent compression throughout the day. | ![]() |
The correct compression level depends on your procedure and stage of recovery. If you are unsure whether you need Stage 1, Stage 2, or Stage 3 support, our team can explain the differences and help you review the most appropriate options based on your surgeon’s instructions.
Chest
![]() | Chest support may be especially important after procedures such as breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, explant surgery, or breast reconstruction. Our fajas are available in bra and bra-free designs. A built-in bra provides integrated chest and upper-body coverage, while a bra-free style allows you to wear a separate surgical bra. |
We also offer a post-surgical bra for women recovering from breast procedures. It can be worn independently or paired with a bra-free faja, depending on the support recommended by your surgeon.
Hips and Glute Area
After a BBL or fat transfer to the hips and buttocks, this area should not be compressed in the same way as the abdomen or waist. That is why our BBL garments are designed with zero compression over the glute area. The garment provides structure around the waist, abdomen, and surrounding areas while leaving the transferred fat free from direct pressure. | ![]() |
This distinction matters. A garment can provide strong abdominal and waist support without flattening or compressing the buttocks.
We also offer different glute designs and customized options depending on the procedure and the amount of coverage needed. When placing your order, make sure to indicate that you have had a BBL or fat transfer so our team can help you review the appropriate design.
Legs
![]() | Leg compression may be needed after thigh liposuction, a thigh lift, knee-area liposuction, or procedures involving the lower body. Our custom fajas can be made in different lengths, including short, mid-thigh, knee-length, and ankle-length designs. The appropriate length usually depends on how far the treated area extends. |
If your surgeon has requested a specific length, additional coverage, or a special compression requirement, include it in the notes when placing your order. Our Design Team will review the request and confirm whether it can be added to your garment.
Arms
Arm support may be recommended after arm liposuction, an arm lift, or procedures involving the upper back and underarm area. If you need sleeves with a specific length, measurement, or compression requirement, leave the details in your order notes. Our Design Team will review the request to determine how it can be incorporated into your custom garment. | ![]() |
Final Thoughts
Compression by zone means recognizing that the abdomen, waist, chest, legs, arms, and glute area do not all require the same type of support.
Some areas may need firm, stable compression. Others, particularly the buttocks after a BBL, may need to remain completely free from pressure. Understanding that difference is what allows a garment to support the treated areas without interfering with the needs of another part of the body.
