What to look for in a post-surgery bra beyond sizeUpdated 14 days ago

By Fajas Tributo

When preparing for recovery, choosing a bra can feel like one more decision on a long list. Beyond size, a few practical details can help you compare your options: how it fastens, where it adjusts, and how its construction relates to the areas that need care.

Look for useful adjustment options

Check both the closure and the straps. Multiple fastening positions offer different settings around the body, while adjustable straps let you change their length at the shoulders.

These features serve different purposes, so look for a design that lets you adjust each area as needed within your surgical team’s instructions. The tightest setting should not be the goal.

Pay attention to what touches your skin

Look at the lining, seams, cup edges, and lower band—not just whether the bra has underwire. A wire-free design still has other construction details worth checking, especially where the garment will sit near an incision.

Before ordering, ask: Where does the band sit? How are the cups finished? What fabric lines the inside? These questions make it easier to understand the garment beyond its appearance.

Choose for your current recovery needs

Your usual bra preferences can be a starting point, but your surgeon may request a particular support garment after surgery. Instructions vary, including when and how long to wear it, so confirm those requirements before choosing your recovery bra.

Share that guidance when speaking with us, along with your measurements and any concerns about closures, coverage, or band placement.

We can help with the details

You do not need to figure out every feature on your own. Book a video call with a Compression Expert to review our bra options and ask questions before ordering.
